Parents and grandparents of both seventh and eighth grade language arts
students are invited to join us for class this Friday, October 16, 2009.
Eighth graders will be involved in a Lincoln-Douglas debate on the topic of
Columbus Day.
Seventh graders will be involved in a Lincoln-Douglas debate on boxing.
Seventh graders will also be sharing their short stories (sequels to the
boxing story we read in class, "Amigo Brothers.")
My e-mail is mborkowski@msd38.org. Please contact me if you have any
questions. Students, if your printer is not working and you have a paper
that needs to be submitted, e-mail the paper to me. It is important that all
students are prepared for class with their homework completed to the best of
their ability.
See the "Homework" page of this website for important details! There is 20-40
minutes of language arts homework each Monday-Thursday night. There is no
language arts homework over the weekend, unless students have make-up work to
do because of absences, need to make revisions on their recent writing
assignments, or are working on an extra credit essay or independent
study project. I encourage students to work hard during the week and use the
weekends to enjoy reading the book, magazine, or newspapers of their choice.
Homework is an integral part of the learning process. It is essential that
all students to do their homework and have it with them the day that it is
due. The consequences for missing homework are as follows:
1st time homework is missing: 1-1 student-teacher conference during or after
class, completion of a Reflection Sheet to be turned in to the teacher and
filed as an official "Warning"
2nd time: Reflection Sheet Taken Home, Signed By a Parent, and Returned to
School
3rd time: Parent-Teacher Phone Conference
4th time: Referral for Intervention (RTI)
