Vocabulary

 The following is a list of vocabulary that we are currently studying.  New 
words will be added as they are discussed in class.

SEVERE WEATHER – Weather that is dangerous or causes damage.

METEOROLOGY – the study of day-to-day weather conditions in the troposphere
and lower stratosphere.

METEOROLOGIST – a scientist who studies the causes and effects of Earth’s weather

ANEMOMETER – an instrument used to measure wind speed. (km/hr)

BAROMETER – an instrument used to measure air pressure. (mb)

COMPASS – an instrument used to determine direction (N, E, S, W)

HYGROMETER – an instrument used to measure relative humidity (%)

THERMOMETER – an instrument used to measure temperature (degrees)
