For those students who wish to go above and beyond regular classroom
assignments please consider these 'above and beyond'opportunities.
1. CURRENT EVENTS AND HISTORY: 'HISTORY RHYMES'
Select an event in the news and create a report connecting the story to an
event in history. If history doesn't exactly repeat itself it definitely
rhymes. What details of the story can be compared to the past? Present the
report to class.
2. ULTIMATE BIOGRAPHIES
Write a two page report based on the 'Life and Times' of a character
discussed in class. Include important facts about that person as well as
information about that time in history. Make a final presentation to class.
3. LITERATURE AND MOVIES
After reading a Historical-Fiction novel or watching a movie based on an
event in American history create a 2 page report detailing that story. Make
sure you include a critique of the book or movie. And of course, present
your report to the class.
