PLEASE NOTE new dates under calendar for assignments due: first novel
critical and a short story. Also some new,fun web sites under links.
Our second week of school will begin a short story unit focusing on
literary elements, authors, and genres. Students will then write their own
short story to show their understanding of the elements.
Week six or seven will begin the study of the novel Animal Farm.
Students will also be required to read a novel outside of class and
will write a literary analysis of that book every marking period. An
author's list and the five paragraph essay form can be found under documents.
All lessons are designed to follow the Arizona State Standards for
eighth, ninth and tenth grades in both reading and writing. Also, Arizona
Gifted Standards and Arizona Technology Standards are addressed.
Academic writing will be a very important part of the 8th grade AEP
curriculum and will begin the first week.
I also hope to begin a blog for these students. Ask them for any
explanation!
