First semester is nearly over! Before the winter holiday, we will be
reading Antigone. Also, the second novel critical is due on December 4.
We plan to begin our study of Shakespeare and the play Julius Caesar
which will take us into the second semester.
Students will also be required to read a novel outside of class and
will write a literary analysis of that book every marking period. An
author's list and the five paragraph essay form can be found under documents.
All lessons are designed to follow the Arizona State Standards for
eighth, ninth and tenth grades in both reading and writing. Also, Arizona
Gifted Standards and Arizona Technology Standards are addressed.
Academic writing will be a very important part of the 8th grade AEP
curriculum and will begin the first week.
