We'll be doing a lot of reading and writing this year. A list of books
is under the 7th grade Docs icon. We'll be concentrating on how literature
reflects history and occasionally influences history. Our readings this year
are influenced by the 7th grade history curriculum and by the theme of "coming
of age".
Every week students will receive vocabulary words and a packet to
complete by test day (usually a Friday). We will also be reviewing grammar.
Students have written a personal narrative and have done a district
writing assessment. We will begin writing the "perfect" five paragraph essay
as this skill is needed in other classes.
All lessons are based on Arizona State Reading and Writing Standards as
well as Arizona and National Standards for Gifted Students.
