WEEK OF 11/16-11/20

Students, please make sure you are keeping everything (binder, folders, and
backpacks) organized. If you are missing an assignment make sure you caome
talk to me before school or during lunch for clarification.

Everyone make sure to get your planner signed nightly. Also make sure to stay
organized and file papers in the appropriate folders and tabs in your binders
nightly!

The following is a list of classroom rules and writing expectations the 5th
grade team has created in order to create a consistent and pleasant
environment for your students at Meadows.
FIFTH GRADE CLASSROOM RULES...

1. Move from one class to the other efficiently; go to the bathroom in
between classes.
2. Line up outside in two quiet lines, one for boys and one for girls.
3. Enter the classroom quietly and get out all necessary supplies:
*notebook
*sharpened pencil/pen/highlighter
*homework folder
4. Your signed planner is out on the desk and opened for the entire class
period.
5. Remain in your seat when the teacher is providing instruction.
6. One person at a time talks; raise your hand to speak
7. The bathroom is for emergencies only.
8. Cleaning up around your desk and classroom is NOT an option. Pick up
after yourself and others.
9. You are dismissed by the teacher, NOT the bell. When asked to, place
notebooks and materials away, then sit back down and wait to be dismissed.

WRITING EXPECTATIONS..
It is the expectation of the 5th grade teachers that all students write
fluently and with great
conventions. In order to be successful, students must :

•	rephrase the question
•	write all responses in complete sentences
•	identify the subject BEFORE using a pronoun
•	give ample details for each thought or idea
•	address all parts of the question(s)
•	write neatly
•	reread each answer to check for correct spelling, proper grammar and
continuity within
           the piece

Every 5th grade classroom teacher has committed to grading all students’
writing in this manner. Please make sure you check with the above list to
ensure the best grade possible.

Remember you can check your child's grade on powergrade at anytime!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
