metaphor or hyperbole and write it at the top of the sheet of paper.  Then
split the paper in half and on one side draw the figurative/literal meaning
and on the other, the actual meaning.  At the bottom of the page, write what
the simile, metaphor or hyperbole means.

Social Studies- Start reviewing your vocabulary words from your word bank. The
quiz will include the definitions of the words, identifying the equator, Prime
Meridian and hemispheres on a map and listing the 5 oceans and 7 continents.

Language Arts 5AEP-Read; Unit 2 Vocabulary Part B;   Writing-  Think of a time
or situation when you needed to be courageous OR a time when you became upset
or frustrated as a result of your own/someone else's actions.   What was the
situation (make sure to describe this situation fully:who, what, when, where,
etc.)?   What did you learn from this experience? and How did this experience
make you feel.

Social Studies-  Review Highlighted information from Lesson 2 and Highlight
key info from Lesson 3

Language Arts- Grade 8- Period 7-   Today in class we were discussing the idea
of setting in a story.   Your job tonight is to think of a place that sticks
out in your mind.  This could be something as simple as your bedroom or a
location your family has traveled to.   The location is up to you.

On the white paper that I provided, sketch a picture of this place.  Please
make sure that all drawings are appropriate for school.

Then, on the back of the drawing or on a separate piece of paper, write a
vivid description of this setting.  Make sure to make your description long
and detailed enough that the reader would be able to determine the setting
without looking at the picture.    Your description should be AT LEAST 8 to 10
sentences in length and follow proper grammar and convention rules.

using at least 12-15 of your vocabulary words.  (Words can always be found

Social Studies-  Finish your "Personal Seal"...make sure your seal contains at
least 10-12 items/pictures that reveal something about your personality.

Writing Activity-
Must be at least 12-15 sentences put in proper paragraph form.  Paragraph(s)
must contain a topic sentence and supporting details.

Write about a time or situation when you got angry/upset/frustrated because
you tried to help someone that did not want your assistance.

the worksheet or a piece of lined paper- write two examples of each type of
