How many days can my child be absent?

Students are allowed to be absent 18 days in a school year. Parents must
call in their student absent daily, even if they are out more than one day.
Excused absences are a call or note from a parent and Doctor/Dentist
appointments. All medical appointments give written excuses for school.

When should my child stay home from school?

Students must be fever free for 24 hours prior to returning to school. The
same for diarrhea and vomiting. Loading your child up with medicine prior
to school usually doens't help. When the medicine wears off, the symptoms
all reappear.

Cold vs the Flu! What should I do??

Treat the symptoms! No need to take kids to the Doctor. They will only get
sicker sitting in an office with many other kids who are sick. Treat the
symptoms starting with the fever. Encourage fluids, and keep them in bed.
Most students with high fevers are out for 2-3 days and vomiting is common.

If my child has Strep Throat, when can he return to school?

Most doctors will tell yu 24-48 hours after starting an antibiotic. Most
children don't feel like going to school for a day or two anyway. Students
must be fever free for 24 hours. If any medication is to be given at
school, please see the nurse to drop off the medication and sign the proper
paperwork. Bring the medicine in the original container from the pharmacy.
Most Pharmacies will give you a SCHOOL BOTTLE.
