Some important bits of information:
Parents should be reviewing student planners and signing them nightly to
indicate that you have read any notes and have seen your child's homework.
See PowerSchool to check a student's grade. I suggest checking them weekly.
Go to the Madison District Website and click on "Parents". Then enter your
password (can obtain from office).
If a student has missing work, remind him to complete it and put it in the
late bin for the correct class period. The student can also check the "No Name
Bin" if he thinks he turned it in.
The best way to contact me is by email at kmcquillan@msd38.org, but I can also
be reached by phone at 602-664-7605.
Language Arts- See the homework page for this week's assignments. This week we
are continuing our spelling and vocabulary practice. See the spelling and
vocabulary section of the binder or the homework page of this site, for
instructions. For grammar, students will identify the simple subject and
simple predicate in a sentence.
Our reading for the next couple of weeks will focus on some of the elements of
literature (plot, conflict, characters, setting, mood, theme). See attachments
page for
class notes.
A book report had been assigned for Quarter 2. See the attachments page or
your student's binder for the instructions. It is due on December 10th.
Science-We are continuing our new unit "Mixtures and Solutions". See the
attachment page for definitions of key terms. The students will learn these
through experimentation and will define them in their Science Word Banks (see
binder). They have received typed definitions for the vocabulary terms. Making
flashcards and practicing them would be a great study tool.
There is a test on Tuesday, November 24th covering the typed definitions
provided (Mixtures and Solutions-Part 1). See the attachment page or your
binder for the definition sheet.
Extra credit for Quarter 2 is available and due by 12/9. See the attachment
page or your binder for information.
Please review graded work in your student's Science Class Work section of his
or her binder weekly. If you see an assignment with a grade of a C- or below,
the student can redo the assignment for a 75%.
