Language Arts-
Each Monday, students write down their homework in their planners and I verify
that it was copied correctly by adding my initials to the sheet. Please review
the planners nightly with your parents and have them sign to show that you
completed the work. You can also check announcements page and the calendar
page for details about important due dates for long term assignments.
Consistent weekly assignments (starting week 2 of school):
Students will receive spelling books or packets, and vocabulary packets each
Monday. The vocabulary words are chosen from the spelling list, class reading
pieces, language arts content, and recommended 5th grade vocabulary words.
Homework should be completed nightly, but will be collected on Fridays.
Spelling and vocabulary tests will be on Fridays. The vocabulary test will be
given in a variety of forms. Some examples are: writing sentences which show
meaning, providing definitions, filling in the blank, matching, and multiple
choice.

Science-
Please check your planner for any science homework. Science homework will be
added daily.
Typically there will not be science homework. Occasionally if a student does
not finish his class work and the majority of the others have, he may have to
finish that assignment as homework. Or if the student is absent, he will need
to complete the work at home if possible or at lunch recess. The only other
homework would be to study for upcoming tests. See the calendar page and your
planner for details about test dates.
