Welcome to our 5th grade community!
I am very excited to begin this amazing journey with you and your families.
Teaching is not just a profession for me, but a passion. My students are
respected and valued, and their parents treasured as key components to their
success. I strive to create a safe, comfortable classroom climate which makes
it possible to engage in a variety of learning experiences.
I student taught at Madison Rose Lane in 4th grade, then graduated from ASU in
2001, with a Bachelor's of Arts in Elementary Education. Meadows became my
home in 2002 where I taught 5th grade language arts and social studies for
four years until 2006. I spent the first semester of the following year at
home caring for my now three year old son Brennan, and the second semester as
Meadows' permanent substitute teacher. I enjoyed the time with my family and
gained experience with various subjects and grade levels by subbing, but truly
missed having classes of my own. I returned to Meadows last year for my 6th
year of teaching and even got my old room back!
Being a life-long learner is extremely important to me so I have taken
advantage of the many professional development opportunities offered by the
Madison District. Last summer, I attended technology courses which earned our
class a SmartBoard interactive screen which projects what is on a computer
screen. I'm thrilled to have gained insights into how to effectively
incorporate technology into the classroom when appropriate to help motivate
and educate students. It has been an exciting adventure learning this new
technology along with my students.
I look forward to teaching and learning with you all the rest of this school year.
