| HOMEWORK POLICY
• Homework is passed out every night (except for long breaks) in
packet form. I use packets, because families have hectic schedules.
Packets give the students the ability to have their homework in one place.
It also gives the family the opportunity to see what their child is doing
every night.
• Homework is to be returned on the following day. If it is late, the
child is the one that is responsible. Recess will be spent in the classroom
until the homework is completed. This policy is the same for everyone.
Extenuating circumstances will be considered with a note for the parents
only.
• The student should be able to do the homework on his or her own.
Most concepts have been covered in class. If they are struggling, provide
them with the assistance needed.
• The homework policy for fourth graders is to have 30-40 minutes of
homework Monday through Thursday. I try to stay within these guidelines,
but all students work at their own pace, and it is tough to decide what is
too much and what is too little. You need to let me know in the form of a
note, email, or phone call if they are spending too much or too little time
working at home. If you want your child to have more homework than this,
Teaching Tools or Lakeshore Learning Center offers a wide variety of
supplemental materials.
