About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
I am excited to in the midst of another school year at Maricopa Elementary, and especially to be a part of the 4th grade team, working with the 4th grade students. They are off to a great start! This will be the start of my 12th year of teaching (in grades 1-4). It is a gift and pleasure to be able to be a part of students' lives, as well as to be a part of their academic and social development. My husband (who is a special education teacher for the Kyrene School District) and I moved here almost 5 years ago for Portland, Oregon. We are still working on putting down roots here and creating a full and balanced life in Arizona, after spending our lives in Oregon. The most exciting news is the addition of our son Xin Xin who came home to us one year ago. I have a passion for the visual arts, being with family, playing with Xin Xin, and teaching.
Mission Label:
Mission
I believe that each and every child is innately good and has a desire to learn. Every child needs to be given the opportunity to engage in hands- on, interactive, engaging, and thoughtfully planned learning. The mission that I set before my students is that we will work together, in a student- centered, emotionally safe, and stimulating environment. We will grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We are all strong and capable and will leave the year with a sense of accomplished and proud, as a class community and as individuals. MY MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT IN MY TEACHING CAREER (SO FAR) Being given the gift of being able to be a part of so many children’s lives has been amazing. When I got married, a student I had had in third grade, four years before, played me down the aisle– It was the most touching moment of teaching life.
