<div>Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! It so exciting to be starting at our new campus.  We are going to be doing so many interesting things in class this year.  One of the biggest focuses in my class this year is the increased use of technology.  There are so many advances in technology every day that we have to prepare students to use as they move into the workforce.  We will be using SMART technologies in the classroom and many online resources for students. Here are some other ways you will see technology at work to enhance your child's education: Class Website & Calendar - Students will have their assignments posted on their class calendar.  Parents and students may use these due dates to keep track of assignments and upcoming assessments.  Powerschools - Parents and students are encouraged to log onto Powerschools frequently to check the gradebook and track progress. Online Textbooks - For Economics and Algebra I students will be using an online textbook instead of the traditional print books.  This will save students from carrying a heavy textbook around in their backpacks as well as increasing students access to resources wherever they may be.  The textbooks also have helpful study aids such as embedded videos where students can see algebra problems being worked.  Each student syllabus and course page have information regarding how to link to the online text. Another exciting addition to my classes this year will be the availability of dual enrollment for community college credit in Precalculus and Financial Literacy.  Please see the Rio Salado Website (<a href="http://www.riosalado.edu">www.riosalado.edu</a>) for more information about this program. </div>
