Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to your child's final year at the intermediate school! This is a
very important year for your child as he/she will learn many life lessons in
addition to traditional academics.
My goal for your child this year is to prepare him/her for the
transition to middle school by teaching responsibility, organizational skills
and time management. Some ways students will learn responsibility is by
filling out the homework outline daily and turning in assignments, field trip
forms and parent-teacher correspondence on time.
Furthermore, students will learn how to organize their academic
materials. We will be practicing an assortment of study approaches.
Throughout the school year, we will incorporate graphic organizers.
Notebooks with subject tab dividers. Writings, such as final writings will
be displayed in one notebook. The students will clean out notebooks, desk
after each quarter.
Time management is a skill that intermediate students do not yet
possess, but will need it in six grade. Students will learn how to manage
their time in class and with home assignments.
For some students, developing from a primary student who greatly depends
on the adults in their lives to accomplish school related tasks for them to a
preteen who is learning to become self sufficient can be difficult, but with
your support and both of our guidance, I am sure we will be successful in
preparing your child for the transition to middle school!
If you have any questions or concerns, I am just an email or phone call
away.
