What is AR?
AR stands for Accelerated Reader. Any book labeled with AR on it has a corresponding test that the students take after they have finished the book. The test checks their comprehension of the story and the student receives points for their score. Students are required to have a certain amount of points each quarter. That number is determined by his or her reading level. They may take tests during their computer class each Thursday, or if they finish their work in class early on my computer. Students that meet their AR goal get to attend a celebration that we call the Rockin' Readers Party at the end of each quarter.Back to Top

What should I expect my student to be bringing home each week for me to see?
Every Monday your student will bring home a newsletter that will outline the lessons that will be taught for the week. The newsletter will also have important dates on it, as well as any special requests. Parents are asked to sign and return the newsletter on Tuesday. Students also receive a homework outline that needs to be signed each night. During class, students write down their homework for the night on the outline. This way parents know what the students will be held accountable for the following day and the students are less likely to forget their homework.Back to Top
