Homework

August 7th: About the Author.  Be sure you turn in your author interviews    
and biographies.

August 11th: Comprehension Strategies.  You must study these strategies.  
Quiz soon

August 11th Advanced: Elements of Literature, including the elements of plot.

August 12th Advanced: Figurative Language terms

August 18th: Students must finish the Introduction and Body (3 Paragraphs) 
of their essay, What I like/dislike about school so far this year?

August 18th Advanced: Students must know the five steps to the writing 
process.

August 21st: First, Second, and Third hour must turn in the final copy of
their expository essay, along with the rough draft.  We will also discuss the
comprehension strategies and textual aides for the reading assignment.

August 22nd: All advanced students must have their essay completed and turned
in as soon as class starts.  Final copy must be stapled on top of the rough
draft, no late work will be accepted.

August 26th: Read "Charles" and complete a literary elements summary of the
story by the 28th.

September 1st: Nouns.  Students will identify nouns in simple sentences.  We
will complete two worksheets.  You will need to turn in both.

September 3rd: Growl Day.  Students will work in groups of three and identify
the common areas on campus.  They will need to participate as a group and
construct a map of the common areas on school grounds.

September 8th: Elements of Literature quiz.  Students will need to recall the
elements of literature, the comprehension strategies, and the textual aides.

September 9th: Second worksheet on nouns (look at Sept. 1).

September 10-12: Working on verbs.  We will have some exercises soon, be 
prepared.
