About The Teacher

"We're moving..." I said to my father over dinner one evening,"...to
Arizona." After being married for a little over a year, my husband and I made
the decision to relocate from Indianapolis, Indiana to Tucson, Arizona after
my husband had accepted a transfer with Raytheon. Although we were excited
about the move, I was a little apprehensive. Arizona seemed about as far away
as China.

As a recent transplant from Indiana, my first two years in Arizona have
been very busy. My husband and I just purchased our first home in August, and
have been spending quite a bit of time unpacking, organizing, painting, and
putting our unique touches on the house. When I am not working on the house,
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, dancing,
cross-stitching(my new found talent),and anything that involves learning. My
husband and I enjoy outdoor activities and have recently gone hiking in Sabino
Canyon (so beautiful! Very different from the Indiana cornfields.) We hope to
complete more hikes in the future. We enjoy roller-blading, swimming, and
white-water rafting.

After graduating in 2005 from Indiana State University (Bachelor's degree
in Life Science and Science Education and a minor in Spanish), I began my
teaching career in Indianapolis, where I taught for two years in the
Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township. My first year at Sahuarita
Middle School was a wonderful experience. While I do miss my former
co-workers, the faculty and staff here are very kind and friendly, the
students are awesome, and the variety of classes that I teach keep me excited.
I look forward to many more years as a SMS Jaguar.
