1/5/09 Jazz Rehearsals will resume tomorrow, 1/6/09. Please bring all your music. We have a couple of interesting things coming up in the next two weeks. 1) On Thursday, January 8, we are having a special jam session with the High School Jazz Band. BE HERE!!! 2) On Friday, January 16, we are performing at the Opening of the Sahuarita Express Library. We have to have 15-20 minutes worth of music ready, so practicing is ESSENTIAL!!! 3) On Saturday, January 17, we are opening the Wrestling Tournament (in our gym) with the National Anthem. (this will be a quick gig and then you can go home and go back to bed!) 4) On Friday, February 20, and Saturday, February 21, we will be opening another wrestling tournament, so put this one on your calendar! WHEW! That's a lot to do, but I have complete faith in you all. Thanks for all you do! 12/13/08 On Tuesday, December 16th, Brice Winston will be coming down to give a presentation on Tucson JazzWerx during 2nd hour. Please come to school that day and be ready to learn! Jazz Rehearsals will continue at 7:30 on Tuesday the 16th. 11/17/08 Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, Jazz Band will meet all three school days next week (Mon, Nov 24 – Wed, Nov 26) at 7:30. BE THERE!!!!!!! 10/26/08 The parades were a HUGE success! I am so proud to get to be your teacher. You all displayed a professionalism and an enthusiasm that is rarely seen anywhere, much less in a Middle School group. Your behavior and dedication made me so proud. It was so wonderful to know that I could expect such behavior and I didn't have to police you all the time. Both of my parents commented on how well you played and how well behaved you were. I thank you for that. (Hey, every kid wants to look good in front of their parents, and you guys helped with that!) Parents: you should be very proud of your musicians. They are truly amazing to work with. Mrs. Viray sent me pictures from the parades. If anybody else has pictures, would you please send them to me as well? If you want copies from the other parents, I'll compile them and send them on. This week: We will rehearse Tuesday and Wednesday as usual (I'm handing out new music). Sleep in on Friday, though.
