About The Teacher
Christy: My name is Christy Cantu. I am very excited to be teaching your children this year! This will be my 12th year with Villa Montessori’s Elementary II program. I started out assisting while I completed my Montessori 6-12 training and my Bachelors in Education from ASU. I have two lovely children, Reese and Faith, who are enrolled in Villa's pre-primary program. I love teaching because it’s rewarding to watch and encourage children to grow and feel confident in their unique gifts. My goal and my approach is to support their confidence and esteem, while helping them see that they can reach the next step. Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my family in our home in Phoenix. My husband and I love and appreciate the historic downtown area. In my spare time, I love to shop for antiques and take family outings. <br> <hr> <br>

Alex MacFarland: I am returning for my third year as Christy's Assistant. I really enjoy working with both her and Zoila, and feel we make a terrific team. It's so exciting to see the faces of returning students, as well as those of the new students! It's definitely bittersweet, watching them grow and mature. I'm happy to be a part of their lives. My family includes my husband, Bill, who is a software engineer at General Dynamics, and our two sons, Eidan and Cael. This year, Eidan is a Third Year in Lura Amparan's class, and Cael is very excited to be a First Year in June Kraynik's classroom. We also have a huge English Mastiff, Elektra, two sibling kitties, Patrick and Sandy, and a new kitten in our home, thanks to Tesa Bartell. Her name is Bettie, and she spends her time either sleeping or flying around the house! In my personal time, I love to sew, sing, and go hiking with my boys. <br> <hr> <br> Zoila Lubin: Hello, I am the classroom checker. This is my first year working at Villa Montessori but not my last. I am 23 years old, a mother and a wife. My daugher is 14 months old and my husband is a Marine Veteran.
