About The Teacher

I have been a Montessori teacher since 1995. I have AMI certification as
well as training at the elementary level. My teaching experience has
included children from ages 3-10, though the majority of my years have been
with the 6-9 year olds. In 2002 and 2004, I was nominated for Disney’s
teacher of the year award by the parents and students of my class. I love
being a Montessori teacher and look forward to working with your child this
year.

Personal Mission Statement
By Georgene Cunningham

As a teacher at Villa Montessori, it is my intention to provide an
environment that allows all to:

•	explore the vast areas of the Montessori curriculum
•	be held accountable for their best effort, believing in their
unlimited potential
•	feel the intrinsic value of the efforts they have made
•	develop/foster an attitude that is encouraging and accepting toward
one another
•	foster a pro-active, solution-oriented approach to academic
personal, social and environmental
        challenges

I am committed to providing this environment by

•	continually offering materials that appeal to the children's
interests and that are
        developmentally appropriate
•	guiding the children to set personal goals and evaluate their own
work
•	encouraging their sense of pride in regard to the effort they put
forth to reach their goals to
improve in an area that is challenging
•	conducting empowerment sessions that allow children to raise issues
and discuss problems-
        solving these issues
•	acknowledge one another's efforts and encourage the children to do
the same
•	raise awareness of community service opportunities - on a local and
global level through stories,
discussions, fields, trips, and various other resources
•	fostering the attitude that we make a difference on earth on an
individual level and collectively
        as a group.

Mission For The Class

"The child is endowed with unknown powers, which can guide us to a radiant
future. If what we really want is a new world, then education must take as
its aim the development of these hidden possibilities."

"The secret of good teaching is to regard the child's intelligence as a
fertile field in which seeds may be sown, to grow under the heat of flaming
imagination. Our aim therefore is not merely to make the child understand,
and still less to force him to memorize, but so to touch his imagination as
to enthuse him to his inmost core."
