December 1, 2013
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! Thank you to all who attended the Dad's Day event with the Hoop Dancers! I hope you all enjoyed your time with your little ones at this fun event.
Parent/Teacher conferences begin this week: Friday and Monday (of next week). If you haven't already signed up for a 15 minute time slot with Katie, please do so this week. If you need more than 15 minutes, please sign up for two back-to-back slots. If none are available, please contact Katie directly to make arrangements for a meeting.
Due to Parent/Teacher conferences, there will be early release both Friday December 6th and Monday December 9th. All day contracts only after 11:30am. There will be no Pizza Friday on the 6th. If your child is in the Circle program, please remember to pack a lunch on these two days.
Every year, Katie's class contributes to a charity during the Holiday season. This year we will be collecting new, unwrapped pajamas and toys for underprivileged children living in South Phoenix. Starting Monday December 2nd, there will be a box outside of Katie's class for the collection of pajamas (sizes 5T through 14 Youth) and toys. The box will be collected on Friday December 13th and delivered to Paideia Academy Family Resource Center where they will be paired with a child in need. I will send a flier home this week with more details in how you can get involved.
The December Snack Calendar has been uploaded. This month we are working on slicing and spreading. Those on snack this month are Madison, Lincoln, Austin and Lucas Kreek. I sill need to know who's child will be attending the Circle program December 30th through January 3rd so I can list them for snack that week.
Have a great week!
November 24, 2013
It's a short, but busy week this week.

Please park at the Elementary campus just north of the Pre-Primary campus.

Odin is on the schedule for snack this week. The snack schedule will be posted for December soon and an email sent to those who will be on the schedule. If your child will be at Villa in the Circle Program during the holiday break in December/January, please let me know so that I can consider them for the snack schedule.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
November 11, 2013
Happy Veteran's Day to all the Veterans out there! I hope you enjoyed your three day weekend.
The Baking Sign up has been updated with some new items. There are muffin mixes that require very little ingredients, especially what we usually have on hand. Fry's usually carries these 10 for $10. Please read the ingredient list to make sure it's not one with lots of other ingredients. If you have any special recipe that uses similar ingredients, please send them in.

I hope you are enjoying the Fall break and this beautiful weather!
The Halloween party is scheduled for Thursday October 31st, 9-11am. All items needed have been added to the Halloween Party link.
If you sign up for the Paper Plate Masks, please email Tricia for the link to order.
If you sign up for the Tattoos, please email Tricia for the link to order.
If you sign up for a craft, please email Tricia for the directions and templates.
If you sign up for the Photo Booth, we have lots of props leftover.
Don't worry if all volunteer spots have been filled-this is just a minimum that we need; all are welcome! One final note on the Halloween party: NO COSTUMES! The children can, however, wear costumes to the Carnival on the 26th.
The Halloween Carnival sign up has been uploaded and will be updated soon with those who have already volunteered. If you are wanting to help in other ways, please visit the school website (link to the left) and check under "News and Announcements" for other opportunities to help. This is a really fun event for the whole family. More details about the carnival will be coming soon.
Katie has added "Helping Hands" to the classroom. If you would like to assist the classroom with some of these needs, please volunteer on the link to the left.
Our garden is under way! Please see the Helping Hands for a few needed items. Thank you Miguel, Jessica, Melissa, and Kassie!

September 29, 2013
Welcome to October everyone! And welcome to our two new kindergarteners, Paul & Remy!
Thank you Paul for arranging our first class get-together! Thank you and congratulations to Melisa, Jessica and Miguel for completing the Master Gardener class this past weekend. Together with Ms. Kassie, our beautiful garden will be getting underway very soon. And thank you to all the parents who attended the all-parent meeting (it was very informative!!)
On the schedule for October:
Music will begin on Wednesday with Ms. Claire.
Pictures are this week (I will send a separate email confirming our scheduled date and time).
Fall break is coming up in two short weeks. The school will be open to All-day contracts only. Please be
sure to turn in your reservation to the office if your all-day contract child will be attending.

volunteer to help organize this fun event.
The October Snack Calendar has been uploaded. Please be sure to check this (I will send reminders a few
days before your child's scheduled week). Snack is something that the children prepare in the morning,
so there is no need for you to prepare it. Also, please note that on Pizza Friday, there is an
ADDITIONAL need of a fruit and veggie to go along with the pizza (this is separate from the morning
Be sure to check the baking sign up for needed items for popover baking.

September 1, 2013
I hope you enjoyed your long weekend and are ready to gear up for the next week!
Thank you to the Melisa T., Miguel R. and Jessica K. for volunteering to be our gardening parents. More details will be coming soon! In the meantime, keep bringing soil and seeds (of your choice) for the kids to start growing.
Please mark your calendar for Wednesday September 18th for the all parent/school meeting which will be held at Camelback High at 7:00pm. We ask that at least one parent attend including returners as administration will be addressing new items.
Don't forget to order your Scholastics by September 8th which you can do by following the link under the Scholastics tab to the left.
The Baking Sign up has been updated for this week. Generally we will need eggs and milk almost every week. Also, the popover recipe has been added to the Documents tab per request as a lot of the kids want to make these at home! Encourage your children to do all the work and only help as needed.
The September snack calendar has been uploaded. Mia is up for snack this week. And don't forget that Pizza Friday starts this week, so there are extra items on the snack calendar for Friday's.
Finally, please remember to pack nutritious food for your children, both for lunch and afternoon snack (if they are all-day contract). We call proteins and carbohydrates growing food and a good rule of thumb is to pack one of each plus a vegetable and a fruit. A good variety is important as they may be very hungry one day and not-so-much the next. Milk and 100% juice is fine for drinks. Please do not send sugary snacks like pudding, candy, and jell-o as your child will eat these and not their growing food. Here is a link to some nutritious snacks (but disregard the popcorn-choking hazard, and #31!)
August 27, 2013
Our ODE (OutDoor Environment) is up and running this week. We have a slight change in plans as far as the garden goes and are seeking two parent volunteers who would like to head up the Garden Club. You will be participating in a garden glass with other PrePrimary parents to learn how to best grow a garden. From there you will head up the other parent volunteers, training them in Gardening 101! Please let Katie, Kassie, or Tricia know if you are interested.
This Friday is a half-day for the entire school for Teacher Professional Development. ALL children will be released at 11:30 for pick-up. There is no Circle after 11:30.
Thank you to all the parents who brought supplies in for the children to start baking this week.
This coming Monday, September 2nd, is Labor Day and the school will be closed. Enjoy the nice long weekend!
This is a friendly reminder to not park in the Toddler parking spots from 8:00-8:45am on the main campus. Also, if you park in the car line to drop off your kids, please remove your vehicle by 8:05 as carline starts at 8:10 and the driveway needs to be clear. If you must park after 8:05, please park on the E1/E2 lot on the north side of the main campus.
Pizza Friday begins next week. If you are planning on participating and have not turned in your form and/or check, please do so by this Friday, August 30
The September snack calendar has been uploaded. Mia is up for snack next week.
August 18, 2013
Well, we've made it through the first week! Congratulations everyone! Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the parent orientation night. It was great to meet the newbies and to see all the familiar faces. If you were unable to attend and have any questions, please feel free to contact Tricia Ridder.
The website has been updated with an updated Snack Calendar, Baking Sign up (the kids are anxious to get started!), Garden Friday (which will be every week through September, then every-other-week), and Shelf Cleaner.
The Pizza Friday form is under the Documents tab. We will begin Pizza Friday on September 6th and the forms are due by August 30th. Please note that if your child is scheduled for snack during the week, you will also bring in an extra vegetable and fruit as well as a drink of choice (milk, 100% juice and water work best).
Our garden will need fresh garden soil and new seeds to grow. Please send in a pack of seeds with your child for them to plant, water and watch grow into some great food that they will be able to enjoy! Sunflowers work well, too, as they provide some shade for the young seedlings!
Scholastic book orders went home this week and are due by September 8th. You can find information regarding Scholastics by following the link on Katie's webpage.
If you haven't already done so, please be sure to update your information when signing your children in or out. There are also a few spots left to volunteer for the Halloween Carnival.
Finally, it is still very hot out there, so lather your child up well with sunscreen, have them wear a hat, and provide a labeled reusable water bottle to keep hydrated.
Kate is scheduled for snack this week and Lukas Kraynik will be next week.
August 11, 2013
Welcome back to school everyone! Tomorrow is our first day back and we are looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones! School begins at 8:30 and car line begins at 8:10. Please remember to not park in the Toddler Reserved spots after 8:00. If you need to park and walk your child in, please use the parking lot at the Meadowbrook/Davis Campus on the north side of the Main Campus. When using car line, please pull up as far as possible and the teachers will assist your child in exiting the vehicle. You will then proceed to the end of the parking lot where you will sign your child in. These procedures are the same at pick up time, which begins at 2:30. The "Last Car" sign goes out at 2:45, if you arrive after that time, you may park on the Main Campus to retrieve your child from the Front Office.
Please remember to bring supplies (Kindergarteners), nap stuff, extra clothes, water bottles, and a nutritious lunch (please no candy, soda, or desserts!) It is still very warm and sunny out, so it's a good idea to lather your child up with sunscreen in the morning and have them wear a hat for when they go out on the playground. If your child is an all-day contract, please remember to pack an extra snack for after school.
The calendar has been updated for this first semester, as well as the snack calendar. Please check the sign-ups on the left weekly to see what the classroom may need or for volunteer opportunities.
Finally, please remember that Tuesday August 13th is the Parent Orientation Night. We ask that at least one parent attend (no children). There will be lots of information that you don't want to miss, as well as introductions.
Noah will be bringing snack this week. Kate is scheduled for next week.
