The 2006-07 school year will be my 11th year here at Villa. I love the
community and now have a
baby
in the infant program.
My mission for the class is for each child to find their way at their own
speed of learning and enjoy learning. I wish for them to learn how to stand
up for themselves and be caretakers of the earth.
Sherra's Welcome Back Newsletter
Welcome Back to another school year! I hope you all had a great summer, did
fun stuff and stayed cool. I am sending you this refresher letter or our
class policies. Sorry it is not as fun to read as a summer novel, but happy
reading!
All children must have a spare change of clothes on hand. Therefore, we need
you to bring a change of clothes in a large ziplock bag clearly labeled with
your child's name.
Three and Four year olds will be taking a nap/rest in our class at 12:30.
Please send a fitted crib sheet and small blanket, small pillow is optional,
but needs to fit in their nap bag. Please label everything, sheet, blanket
and pillow. All nap bags will be sent home on Fridays to get washed. Please
remember to return nap bags every Monday.
Every morning we set up snack tables for the children to come visit when they
feel hungry. This daily snack is provided by the families in our class. At
the end of each month I will send out a calendar with your child's name on it
and what items to bring. Please bring enough for 30 children. Fruits and
veggies should be washed and cut up. Please try if you can to get it here by
8:30 so we can set it up. When preparing fruit, please figure 1/2 piece per
child. Your child's snack day is also his/her show and tell day if they want
to. Children may bring something that is special to them, but No toys
Please!!
If it is your child's birthday you may bring a birthday snack. We allow
cupcakes with little frosting, cookies, dounut holes, and of course anything
healthy. NO Cakes. Be creative. This is not your child's birthday party,
rather a simple recognition of this special day. If you are planning a party
please mail invitations unless you are inviting the whole class. This will
eliminate hurt feelings, which are inevitable of course.
If your child will be eating lunch at school, please pack a healthy lunch and
do not send candy or soda to school. Lunchboxes need to have a frozen ice
pack inside to keep food cool and a small cloth napkin to be used as a
placemat. Please pack these two items everyday along with utensils they may
need. If your child stays past 3:00 you will need to send extra snacks for
the afternoon.
Your child's arrival and pick up time are according to the contract you have
signed. Please be respectful and honor those times. You will be billed for
any outside time you use. Extended day children need to be picked up by 2:40
unless you have an older sibling allowance until 3:00. If you are not here by
2:40, your child will be in the office waiting. This is not a punishment for
the child; we simply do not have the staff to accommodate extra children past
that time. When dropping off and picking up your child it is very important
that you sign them in and out. Our sign in /out book is at the classroom door
except between 8-8:30 am when it will be at carpool dropoff.
Just a reminder about our loading and unloading zone. This is the lane
closest to the fence in the main parking lot. If you arrive between 8-8:30am
you may stay in this lane and a teacher will help your child out of the car
and walk them to their class. You can sign your child in as you exit the
parking lot. Between 2:20 and 2:40 we will bring your child to the car and
buckle them in .
Please do not get our of your car or park in the drive thru lane at any time!
The only reason for this rule is because it is the only way we can safely
load this many children at a time without having it back up in the street.
Please do not get offended if a teacher reminds you not to park or get out,
just know that is is only for everyone's safety and to keep the carpool
moving quickly. Some people get out and park in this lane, and go get their
child. This causes the whole drop off/pick up lane to get backed up and
angers everyone.
I look forward to working together as a team in helping your child have a
successful year! Please feel free to email me at sherraseiben1@hotmail.com if
you have any questions or concerns and I will respond as quickly as I can.
See you soon!
