What do I do when my child is star of the week?

All the instructions will be inside the Star Backpack that your child will
bring home, on the Friday before he/she is the Star. I will be choosing
students in alphabetical order, using their first name. You can find the
entire Star schedule in our "Documents" link. The Star is also in charge of
bringing snacks for the class during his/her week. Please send nutritional
snacks, which must be reduced fat or fat free and contain very little sugar.
Our new nutritional standards require this for use in the classroom. Thank
you for your participation!

May I bring treats for my child's birthday?

Yes! Birthday treats are always welcome to help make your child's day
special. Cupcakes, brownies, etc. must be store bought with the ingredients
listed. Please follow the state nutrition standards. We have 14 students.
Individual snacks are greatly appreciated. Please do not send in any red
juice or soda. We will celebrate summer birthdays at the end of the school
year.
Note: Please use the student directory to send out birthday invitations. I
will not pass out invitations unless everyone is included. Thank you for
your consideration and understanding.

What do I do with the book order that was sent home?

I will send home a new book order once a month. I will send home
the new order once the previous order has been delievered. Book
orders are a great way to build your child's own library. Each book order
contains books at various reading levels. Please look for books that
are at your child's reading level and/or books categories that your child is
especially interested in.

Do you have show and tell?

We have show and tell every other Friday. I will remind students each
Thursday about show and tell the following day. Show and tell is a time when
studnets may bring any toy they would like to school. I really encourage the
studnets to participate in show and tell, it builds self-confidence and gives
the students a chance to learn more about each others interests.
