This will be my 25th year of teaching in the Amphitheater School
District. Wow! I can't believe the time has gone so fast! All of
my years teaching have been in first grade except for one year of
Kindergarten. I love this age because there is a tremendous amount of growth
in one year. I also love the enthusiasm, energy, laughter, love and honesty
that first graders bring into the classroom. I love language arts, and this
makes it incredibly fun for me to teach reading and writing. I have also had
intensive training in this area. I am confident that I will be able to
facilitate your child's love of reading as well as give him/her the
necessary skills for academic success.
I love to work out, visit the orphanages in Agua Prieta, Mexico,
listen to music, do things with my friends, travel, go to
Alive church (I teach in the children's ministy), and visit the ocean! But
most of all, I love being with children, especially my two wonderful boys.
They are the joy of my life! Steve is a sophomore in the Engineering
program at the U of A this year and Brian is a sophomore at Ironwood
Ridge! I understand what it feels like to be a parent as well as an
educator, so please feel free to contact me at any time. I have a definite
open door policy in that you may walk in at any time to see what your
children are doing. Please feel free to join us!
I want my first graders to achieve as much as they possibly can in one
year's time. I integrate the academic areas for the greatest potential for
growth and higher levels of thinking and creativity. I have extemely high
expectations and believe that all children can succeed and work to their
greatest potential if given the right environment for learning. I believe
in a supportive, nurturing, loving, and respectful environment. I also am
very dedicated to a positive parent, child, teacher partnership.
