Mrs. Thom

I graduated from UBC with a 5 year Bachelor of Education degree and have been
working in the educational field for 33 years. Previously, I was a high/middle
school teacher and Gr. 5/6 educator at Nicomekl and Noel Booth Elementary. I
live in Walnut Grove, so it had been a goal of mine to one day teach at a
school closer to home, and fortunately I was able to make the move to Gordon
Greenwood three years ago. Working with and teaching children continues to be
my passion. My husband and I have two daughters who graduated from the Langley
Fine Arts School. Shelby is a broadcast journalist for CKNW in Vancouver, and
Breanna has just finished her last year of studies at UBCO in Kelowna. I am really
looking forward to being in the classroom and having another positive
educational experience with my students, colleagues, and parent community at
Gordon Greenwood!

Mrs. Canby

I am really looking forward to working with this class at Gordon Greenwood Elementary this year. I
graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Education degree as well as graduated from
Kwantlen University with a Minor in Geography. This is my second year teaching, previously I taught in
White Rock for Grade 3 and successfully completed my practicum at Gordon Greenwood in Grade 6 with
Mrs. Thom in 2014. I live with my husband and bulldog, Lila, in the White Rock area and we are
enthusiastically expecting a baby boy this coming January! I worked as a Personal Trainer and Bootcamp
Instructor and continue to do this as a hobby in my spare time. I am grateful to be a part of this school, in a
community I have felt so welcomed in before. Here is to a great year!
