I first skim the headings throughout the chapter. Then I read the chapter, underlining key points along the way. If there is an accompanying website to the textbook, I do the self quizes and read the additional information. I keep the powerpoints up when I am taking notes in class during a lecture, so I can copy and paste any graphs, etc. straight into my notes. I create an outline of each chapter, which I use as a study guide for exams. The end of chapter reviews are usually a great review for any quizes or exams. It's all about keeping up with the work. It's when I fall behind that learning the material gets more difficult.
