So here we are at the end of your high school career (and the brink of adulthood).  Now, it's time for you to look back and look forward on a larger scale.  Your  final check-in post should discuss each of the following:

    > a triumph or success from the fourth quarter and/or entire year
    > a failure or disappointment from the fourth quarter and/or entire year
    > a reflection on your high school experience (triumphs, setbacks, goals, etc.)
    > something that you are looking forward to in the next year of your life (in addition to the obvious "Oooh, I'm on my own now" stuff!)
    > a personal goal for the next year

Your comments should offer observations, constructive feedback, advice, or even consolation to your classmates.  All posts and comments are due by 11:59 pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2011.

I will not accept (for credit) any posts or comments that are made after May 31st since grades are due on the following Thursday.

As you prepare to leave high school (and childhood) behind, I would urge you to consider carefully the following words from playwright George Bernard Shaw:
"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are.  I don't believe in circumstances.  The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them."

For this week's blog entry, I would like for you to respond to this quote.  Your response should do some or all of the following
    - interpret the quote in your own words
    - support or refute the quote with evidence from your experiences, from literature, and/or from the real world
    - reflect on how your circumstances have shaped who you are
    - discuss how you plan to "get on in this world" by capitalizing on (or overcoming) the circumstances of your life
    - illustrate the quote with examples from life and/or literature
    - respond in any other way that is thoughtful and relevant

Your initial response post is due by 11:59 pm on Thursday, May 19, 2011.  Comments on other responses are due by 11:59 pm on Sunday, May 22, 2011.  Please remember that this is the last regular blog assignment of the course; please be sure to maximize this grade.
