Hunger Games and Catching Fire were only the first two installments in the Hunger Games trilogy but they instilled a 'fire' and 'hunger' for reading in all of us.  I hope you continue to follow Katniss on her quest for justice, love and the pursuit of happiness.

Tell us how the first two books have impacted you.  Give specific example and cite moments in the books that moved you in some way.  Do you feel different since you've met these characters?  Did they influence you in any way?  Testify to the power of these books and encourage others to share the adventure.....

The two books impacted me in many ways. They were from when Katniss took Prims place in the hungarygame. That moment made me think how a real famliy is supose to be to each other.then when Katiss helped Peeta when he had deep gash in his lower led.tht is how the book the Hungary Games impacted .
Cathing Fire touched me when Katiss's mother helped Gale when he wipped to the back. She helped him through recovery. That was the moment that touched me during the book of Catching Fire.

This "trilogy" (even though i have only read the first two books) is the most anticipating book series i have ever read. They have made me realize how awesome some books are!The arena just makes me feel like it is me out there. It is just such a descriptive peice of writing.Thresh is probably my favorite. He reminds me of some overpowered, steroid user that is compashionate yet can shut someone light out when he needs to. >:D

The ending of book 2 impacted me the most. I mean im happy about them escaping but no district twelve is like no bacon on a blt. its panemoniam man. Men and Women of america we must fight for a better and stronger panem. Who's with me... well that figures lol!!!!!!!! it impacted me the most when cinna had created the mocking jay outfit. I cant wait to read the next book. this book series has made me more aware of my surroundings, more aware of the people around me, and made me see who the real enemy is!!!!!!!!!!i have been thouroghly impressed with this book. it packed a real punch of excitment, creativity and awareness!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really think that these books show that the author has a higher meaning of why we, as humans, were placed upon this earth.the books gave me a whole new insight upon my own experience in life. i nnow know how the slaves felt in those days of old; they were left for days without food or housing or even a bath. katniss and her district may seem so much better off in comparison, but really they arent. like the first song i played for you in class, ''when the rich wage war its the poor who die'' and thats exactly whats coming for the districts. i shall remain vague about the third book, but i will say this: the good guy ALWAYS wins, no matter what the circumstances. just remember who the true enemy is.

in the hunger games when Peeta was with the careers i was so mad thati would have came in to the book and killed him myself but once i found out that he was just toying with them i let out a sigh of relief

in the second book catching fire i was horrified that they were having to go in the arena again although if you really think about the book you can already see it coming but you couldnt see what they were going to do to get them back in the arena when Peeta said Katniss was pregnant i thuought for sure she was going to stomp on to stage tell the whole world theyre love is a lie and beat Peeta to a pulp

What really moved me in the Hunger Games series was the love and dedication that the characters felt for each other. Ii also tells a tragic love story of how Katniss is caught between two boys that are in love with her, but she doesn't know what her feelings are for them.Honestly Katniss confuses me so much with her mixed feelings for Peeta,I mean one chapter she hates him the next she's kissing him it's just so confusing! I would say the book affected me by showing me that not all of the world is a happy place like America beleive it or not there are some awful places out there in the world.

These books made an impact very quickly. As soon as you read the first page your are sucked in and can't stop reading. There was some places where it was a bit slow but that was only at the beggining. Once the games started in the first book, there hasn't been mcuh of a quiet moment. There's always something going on, or something to think about, Those few quiet moments in the books spoke really loud. I never knew what was going to happen next. Ever possible route I though about in my head was proven wrong. The book kept me wondering. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. The Hunger Games was constantly on my mind. Multiple instances made me stop and to think or to just aborb it all. Katniss standing to take Rue's place, the account of the burnt loaves, Madge giving Katniss the mockingjay pin, Peeta saying he loved Katniss, Katniss find out about the Careers, making an alliance with Rue, Peeta saving Katniss, Rue telling Kaniss it was because of the mockingjay pin, Rue's death and the lullaby Katniss sings, The Games creating the new rule, Katniss finding Peeta, recounting the story of Prim's goat, rushing to the feast to save Peeta, The defiance at the end once the rule has change, with the berries, The threat over Gale during the victory tour, the failure to meet President Snow's demads, then the announcement of the Quarter Quell, that reaping, The effort they put in, the tears and promises, another bomb dropped during the interviews before the capital, the sign of unity among the district's victors, Peeta's picture of Rue, then in the arena and what transpired there, the forcefeild, Finnick turning out to be not that bad after all, Johana, Wiress, Betee, the wire, the chink in the armor and the begining of the truth behind it all. Almost every word in those books made some sort of impact on me. It's unbelievable how many times it wanted to throw the book, cry, and laugh. In Mockingjay it was the same. I cried, laughed, curled up in a ball, and was giddy with childish joy. These books are some of the best I've ever read.

It has shown me people can be MAJOR jerks, like what president Snow did in the third ook when katniss went to the hospita in
district eight. The boy from district one in the first hunger games when he killed Rue.
From reading the books Katniss and Gale has made me want to go hunting and fishing more.

I just got finished reading the third book I wanted her to go with the other one if you know what i mean. I t made me cry when rue died, It made me scream when Peeta got captured. It made me laugh when Gale Kissed her, It made me smile when Peeta gave her the perl. It made my mouth drop to the floor when Peeta anounced his love for her on live televison. These are just a few emotions i felt while reading book 1 and 2. But mockingjay made me cry harded, scream louder, and laugh harder. These are by far the best books i've ever read! :)

i also forgot to mention that i really think that i know all of you a little better now. i consider all of u my friends, no matter how mutual these friendships may be:) and i really feel that weve all been brought together for a reason, and these books have supported that sufficiently

It makes me feel like I'm lucky to have food or snacks whenever I want or just to take a shower. I don't have to be put in a fight for death,I don't have to worry about my fammily starving. These books make me appriciate everything more. But then when I think of the Capitol people and how they think death is entertaining it reminds me of our wars today. Of course no one thinks our wars are entertaining ,but I believe if we are the good guys as we say we are,we should try to stop it. Stop the killing and sabotage to other countries. Or else, are we just like the capitol?
I hated the part where they were sent back in. Honestly, after I read the first book I was curious what they would do since they already went to a hunger game. I wanted to come into the story and asassinate Snow myself. Prim must have been one strong girl to not give up on life.
I think Katniss misunderstood Haymich's intentions. I think he was using her but also saving her too. But I wouldn't have been any less harsh on him if I was her either.
Katniss and Peeta both show how much someone can love each other. They devoted to each other so its like they are subconiciously married to each other. I understand that Katniss and Gale can't be together because they are actually more like brother and sister. [And that leaves me more of a chance with him too(; Haha jus' kiddin'] Why can't the world be like that though? People actually truly love each other.
This is totally off topic but does anyone watch House? Well House himself would fit Haymitch perfectly!!!!:D
I 've been outside more now, maybe because of the books? Haha.I'm not sure.
This impacted my heart,my mind, and I would greatly recommend this trilogy to anyone willing to bawl their eyes out and get a year to anger management.

One part in the secind book that afected me was when Beetee made the wire. First off I think that the weapons were chosen to suite some of the contestants strengths. When he made the wire and hatched that idea I thought it would work. Then it seemed everything was going downhill. Katniss must be very on top if things if she had the mind to figure out what Beetee was trying to do with the forcefield. Was the whole beach electricution just a gag to cover up the real plan for the wire? The elaborate plan of every tribute in all the districts to keep Katniss alive was amazing. They had planned it all and it worked for the most part. Some of the even gave their lives for Katniss and for the future of Panem. That was very heroic. From the point where those people said that district thirteen was still out there I saw some forshadowing of the events that are taking place now. Both of these books now seem like just a prologue in the series of the hunger games. I think we are now reaching the climax of the story of Katniss and the Hunger Games.

This book made me think about - what if it were my little brother's name drawn - what if we lived in a world controlled by "the capitol" - what is the deal with the capitol peoples style - what would president snow look like in real life - could there be a dristrict 13 - are there people living in district 13 - would i be brave enough to go hunt, win the games, and marry Peeta to save peoples lives|
Katniss is doing brave starting a rebellion but what about her almost husband Peeta? And her "Baby"? What kind of people live there in district 13?

I think Katniss is doing the right thing and with Peeta saying she was pregnant and Cinna with the Mockingjay dress and then being beat with metal poles...???? NO WONDER PANEM IS IN FULLBLOWN REBELLION! If the games hadn't been with all of the previous victors then how would they then get her to district 13? I kinda think President Snow planned for Katniss to go into the games again because of the uprisings in the districts.

Katniss is thinking hatefull thoughts about Haymitch about using her to start the rebelion and the games explosion, but I think hes is using her as a symbol of the rebelious districts. And the part about Plutarch Havensbee with the pocket watch that was very subtle and clever.

Now looking at the tsunamis in Japan it makes me think about how district 12 and 13 looked right after the bombing and Did district 12 also have secret tunnles to live in until it cleared out?? Did the tunnels lead them to district 13 - are Prim and Katniss's mother in district 13???

    -FAVORITE MOMENTS-
1.When Peeta died and Finnick brought him back to life... Why?
I am glad though that he didn't get captured by the capitol
2.When Johanna hit Katniss with the can and so I figured it had to be her taking out the tracker chip and mostly because of " there was a ripping sensation" - or something.
3.How Katniss was being stubborn and kept knocking herself out.
    4. When Katniss actually attacked Haymich!
I didn't expect her to actually attack him!But this isn't the only time this book has surprised me.
    5. When Gale leans over Katniss to tell her the bad news
    6. The part where Katniss is caught in the woods by 2 escapies.
I thought there was the faint possibility that there was a 13 and there was!!!
    7. my favorite part was when Plutarch told about a secret undercover group he was part of and then when the entire scheme was laid out!!!

I have had mixed emotions about these books. At times I wanted to cry, jump up and down in joy, say "Aww" at the sweet parts, and even throw the book acrss the room. When we started reading The Hunger Games, every day I would go home and think "I want to find out what happens next!" Sometimes I couldn't sleep because I would think about the books so much! The whole time we read in class, I would be on the very edge of my chair, my eyes wide with excitment. My favorite part was when Katniss and Peeta finally became allies. Katniss knew that she could trust him then.
In Caching Fire, I wanted to literally throw the book in the trash when I found out that Katniss and Peeta had to enter The Games again. No joke. I felt bad for them. I imagine it would be traumatic to have to go through that, (and go through it AGAIN). They have families and friends and people who care about them! but the Capitol only cares about ebtertainment. (Except people like Cinna, and the Avoxes). And I especially felt sorry for the elderly victors like Mags.I wanted to cry when Peeta was talking about Katniss being a great mother and when he gave her the pearl. That was kinda bittersweet. basically he is telling her that he loves her AND saying goodbye at the same time. I don't want either of them to die.
These books have really opened my eyes to what could be going on in the world that we don't know about. I don't think it's quite as extreme as the events in the books, but in some parts of the country there are people who are starving and there are countries that don't have the freedoms that we do.
I'm glad that rebellions have started in the districts. Maybe the districts can finally overpower the Capitol and Panem will be a better country. I'm glad the books aren't over yet, (because I still need to read Mockingjay). The Hunger Games has to be the best series I have ever read. Suzanne Collins put in an AMAZING effort on them, and it shows.

The Hunger Games and Catching Fire made me want to cry, throw it in the trash, and scream all at the same time! When Katniss volunteered for Prim at the reaping that was a brave move. I am brave ,but not that brave. Peeta and KAtniss were meant for eachother. I wonder what KAtniss thought when Peeta unveiled his true love for her. In the Games I wanted to cry when Peeta was about to die under the mud alone! Then here comes KAtniss lokking for him! And Rue, why did she have to go so painfully? Was that Katniss' plan the whole time to rebel against the Capitol if and when Rue died? In the cave KAtniss kissed Peeta for food but Peeta kissed for LOVE!! When they rebelled with the berries that is when I was thinking that they were dead! I mean that Capitol hates that kind of stuff!
In the second book when they were touring the Districts, I wanted to cry when they shot the man from 11 just for singing Rue's short 4 note tune. (They really were strict in District 11!) I seriously had tears in my eyes when Gale was being whipped. I wanted to throw the book at that point. You are lucky that I didn't have a book in my hands. Then Katniss.. Poor KAtniss got whipped acros the eye and that made me even more shocked. I mean she was just trying to protect GAle. (I wish that HAymitch wasn't drunk through almost the whole book. But Hey he was pretty funny!)At the announcement of the Quarter Quell I just wanted to scream! Why would they ever want the victor's to go back in again? Who came up with that stupid idea? I am almost positive that President Snow did that just to try to stop rebellions in the Disticts because if KAtniss died so would the rebellions. MAinly how entertaining is whatching people that the Capitol love die on TV. Does the Capitol care about anything but themselves. They need to wake up a smell the roses. They have a starving country out there. They need to help them. Poor Mags. She basically killed herself. She could barely walk and Katniss couldn't build up enough strenght to carry her any farther. What were the Gamemakers thinking? Did they really want to kill every tribute? Before the Games they beat Cinna right in front of her! I honestly wanted to scream and CRY my eyes out! Did KAtniss have trust issues? She only stayed in the alliance because Peeta trusted them! I feel like Peeta is the only person besides Prim and GAle that she trust! WOW! Does Peeta have a way with words. HE talked his way through both games. Saying that Katniss was going to have a baby was a shock. I am sure my face looked very stupid during that part. When Peeta gave her a pearl and then patted her stomach (playing the whole mother thing)! He told her that she would be a great mother someday! Katniss thinks that if one of them should be a parent she thinks that it should be Peeta not her! I thoughgt that johanna was just a mean soul! She shoved Wiress down on the beach and cut KAtniss' arm! Really she was only trying to save her! Johanna was trying to get the tracker out of her arm. Again I wanted to cry and be shocked at the same time. When Beetee's wire explodes the whole arena I thought everybody was dead. Katniss and Beetee and Finnick all got picked up by a District 13 helicopter. Peeta , Johanna, and Enobaria got picked up by the Capitol's helicopters! When KAtniss wakes up she finds that she is on a padded table with tubes in her arm! I was thinking at that point that she was in the Capitol! Well was I wrong! She was in a moving thing going to District 13! When she can finally moves she figures out that no one told her that this was the plan all the time! I would have been so mad! I would have done just what KAtniss did.. scratch Haymitch's face and scream at hime! I would have probably been just as mad as her! But Gale was so sweet when telling her what had happened after the Games! But he was able to save only Prim and her mother! I HAVE TO READ MOCKINJAY! I AM SO EXCITED TO FINSH TO TRILOGY!

I'm not sure where my comment went, and since I have no desire to go over the stuff I already typed during class, I'm just gonna discuss the other things I felt from this AWESOMEST series ever.

The Hunger Games proved to me that the will to survive can drive you to do things that you would never do if you thought about when you weren't in the situation. Yes, we look down upon killing in our society, and to tell you the truth, so did Panem. It was almost like a double standard for Capitol citizens, because if one of them were to kill, then it would be a tragedy, but if an innocent twelve year old were to be slaughtered in the arena, it's entertainment. Of course, that's not their fault. No one has ever been there to tell them different, and no one ever will. The Capitol's citizens, IF the Capitol was to be over thrown, would be tortured or left to die (or both!). They wouldn't be saved, wouldn't be retaught the "right" way. Wouldn't they become the oppressed ones?

How naive and repetitive the human race is also is apparent in these books. We establish government, we live happily, then we try to overthrow the government and start a better one. Obviously the US, Canadian and Mexican governments were overthrown at some point so these districts could become existant. And now, obviously, they are trying to get rid of this one. If that happens, then their own form of the "hunger games" will eventually arise and have to be overridden.

The power of love. Love plays a major part in this book. Katniss has a long list of those who she loves. Love can make us some pretty courageous, difficult, and/or stupid things. Like taking Prim's place in the reaping, yelling Peeta's name out from that tree and, in the end, forgiving her Mother for leaving her starving all those months, YEARS after her father died. Which also leads us to believe that love will forgive and heal the wounds that, at the moment, feel like they will never heal because the hurt hurts so much. But no matter how far down the wound goes, no matter the circumstances, you can forgive someone if you give yourself the chance to.

The twists and turns are everywhere and they leave you with your head spinning. I love the way this author tells this story. Which isn't just A STORY... It's a love story, a mystery, a science fiction story, a happy story, a sad story... a story to be remembered. I would recommend this book to anyone, whether you like to read or don't like to read, live in the North American Wilderness or New South Wales, eat twinkies or moon pies, drink pepsi or coke, use febreeze or oust..(well, you get it, this is a book for people of all preferences and snack food beliefs)

SPREAD THE JOY OF READING THIS BOOK TO OTHERS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN ENLIGHTENED BY IT'S MESSAGE AND PLOT!
