Does anyone else see the parallels between the Hunger Games and the Roman Gladiator Games?  Give me some examples of where you see relationships, whether it be similarities or differences.  For example, weren't the tributes paraded around the Capitol in horse-drawn chariots?!!  Let's see what you can come up with.....

They are both battling to the death! They did parade around the capital in horse drawn chariots. Only one can win. Who will it be??!!?:)

I think the Capitol makes the tributes parade around the in chariots so the games can be more interesting and so that people can pick who they want to sponser amd/or bet on.

SIMILARITIES: The Gladiators are the tributes, the Coliseum is the arena, Caesar is Snow, the audience is the Capitol, the peasants are the Districts.

DIFFERENCES: The Districts have to watch. If I'm correct, Only the audience (Capitol) would be watching, showing the impact of technology.

What if in the next ten years or so, there was a revolution and something like this happened. Technology would defiantly effect how they were fought out and controlled.

Could anyone tell me what the Roman Gladiator Games are?

Well I think that Rue dying would be inevitable because sooner or later they would have to kill each other. I don`t think Katniss would enjoy killing someone who reminds her of her little sister.

Sharon, the Roman Gladiator games were held in enormous coliseums full of spectators where warriors were given weapons to fight to the death! I will show you some pictures in class of how gladiators were dressed and we can discuss how they were treated.

Rachel, to answer your question, there has been a "rule change". Evidently, if the 2 tributes from the same district are left at the end, then they will both be crowned victors.

I still dont quite understand why thresh didnt kill katniss. It will just make the games harder if she is alive right? and now that peeta is healed it is going to be VERY hard to take both of them

I agree with Mrs. Blanks. I wouldn't have thought of gladiators at first, but I knew the games reminded me of something...

Well sort of. I never really thought of that before except for the chariots. I mean, don't they both fight un til death? Is the capitol trying to make the original games more cruel? If so, I think they succeeded.
