We are learning about apples this week! We are reading apple books, graphing apples, counting apples and much more!  Yesterday we tasted four different types of apples. Then we picked our favorite kind and made a class pictograph.  Today we are making an apple counting book and creating patterns using apples.  We are looking forward to making applesauce on Friday!

We finally finished our Crazy Color Creature books!  Look for them in your child's backpack tonight.  We have been practicing reading the book, so everyone should be able to read it their parents. We also attended a fun assembly today.  The Standards, a band from Nashville, came and sang for us. The kids had a great time moving, clapping and singing along with the band.  We had a  great time!

We have been very busy the past few days!  We are working on reviewing letters and beginning sounds of words.  We are also learning Nursery Rhymes.  Ask your child to come up with rhyming word pairs.  We have been practicing rhyming all week, so I am sure they will be able to come up with all kinds of words!  Tomorrow is library day, so be sure to send your child's book back to school!

It was great to see everyone again after our weekend!  I hope everyone was able to rest up after our busy first week. Today we continued to review the letter sounds. We also practiced writing the letters E, F and G.  The first decodable of the year was sent home. It is called A Table.  Remember to practice reading the decodables every night!

Today we read a poem about a purple cow.  We talked about different colors and practiced reading the color words.  Then we made our own crazy color cow. Be sure to check your child’s backpack to see their specially colored cow!  We also learned about our new math program and all of the tools that go along with it.  We  had fun playing with the new tools.  Finally, we ended our day with a special ice cream treat called a “purple cow”.  Check our class pictures on line to see us enjoying our treat!

    Have a great weekend!
