We have been talking about similes and metaphors in class. Write either a simile or metaphor to describe yourself. Explain whether it is a simile or metaphor and how you know. Also, explain why authors, like Kate DiCamillo would use similes and metaphors.

My simile is: I am as tall as a giraffe. This is a simile because I used the word as two times and I compared something, not stated it. I think authors would use similes and metaphors so that the reader could get a better picture of what the author was talking about. For example, this simile (I like similes a lot) "My dog is as funny as a clown" would show the reader a better picture than "My dog is funny."

Simile. I have black eyes like the pitch black sky. I know the difference between a metaphors and similes.
I look in the sentence if there are 2 things being compared and if there is a word like or as for similes. For metaphors I look for 2 things being compared and if the is no like or as. The type of sentence Is like his hair is a lions mane. It says it is but it is actually like a idiom.
I think why authors use metaphors and similes is to get people interested in the book. Also if it is a funny book they would probably mostly like to use metaphors. They love to get peoples attention and they want to make a really good book that's funny, mysterious, etc. That's why I think authors use metaphors and similes.

Simile: I am as sweet as a juicy peach.

That was a simile because I used as and when you use ''as'' or ''like'' it automatically becomes a simile.

I think Kate DiCamillo use simile's & metaphors because I think it's all apart of becoming a author. Like when you write your book you dont think about the words that you are writing down all you know, is that your making a WONDERFUL, & AMAZING book. So pretty much you dont know what your writing all you know is that you just wanna get done writing your book.

By the way if you see this and you are in my class Please blog me back!!

    Thank You!! :)

I am a wild animal. I know this is a metaphor because I compared my self to a wild animal saying that I am a wild animal. I think that authors use metaphors because they want you to get a picture of what is going on.
