Oh, what fun we've been having in merit class!

Last Friday we went outside to do a little field study.  We didn't find any herps (reptiles or amphibians), but we did find lots of invertebrates, including worms, insects, centipedes, and grubs.  We had fun turning over logs and exploring the pecan grove looking for creatures!

Our vocabulary keeps growing, as your child may have mentioned!  Here are a few of the recent words we've encountered and have been discussing:

lure
saliva
diurnal
nocturnal
regenerate
bask
juvenile
tropics
beneficial
regurgitate (one of the children's favorite words - ha)
wildlife
squeamish
scat
arboreal

The children have had a great time today in merit doing some independent research on the computers and recording their findings in their journals, too.

We've got lots more to learn in our exciting herpetology study ---- you can expect an invitation to a herpetology program some time in November! :)

    Mrs. Hawkins,

You are doing a fantastic job of keeping your parents informed for Merit. I know they really appreciate this and so do I! Happy moving this week!

Well, thanks so much, Dr. Stinson!

Moving week has been hectic, to say the least! But I can at least see the light at the end of the tunnel!! Thank you!!
