This week, Saint Martin de Porres School is joining all other Catholic schools in the Archdiocese in an archdiocesan-wide food collection to feed those in need in our community.  Please send in all items to school with your child during this week.  Thank you for your generosity.  Special thanks to our student government for coordinating this community out-reach project.

Mrs. Leahy challenged everyone to wear their craziest hats and wildest socks to school today, and the students and faculty and staff did not disappoint.  These are just a few of the crazy hats that appeared today. Click on the Catholic Schools Week 2012 link at the top of this page for more photos, and please continue to check back throughout the week as we continue to upload photos of CSW activities.

This is Sydney the therapy dog.  She visits Saint Martin's on Thursdays.  The second graders in Mrs. Papineau's class enjoy reading to her.

With the weather finally hovering at seasonal temperatures, it was a perfect day for hot cocoa.  Mrs. Leahy, assisted by the faculty and staff, whipped up one of winter's favorite chocolate treats, and the students had a great start to the morning, socializing with their classmates.

Leapin' Lizards! The auditions for Annie, Jr. have begun, and with those auditions come the usual questions: Will I remember my lines? Will I sing in key?  "I'll just stick out my chin and grin and say oh . . ."   May St. Genesius, the patron saint of actors, guide and inspire our young thespians.

Half day cookies and milk are delivered.  Freshly baked, warm, and gooey cookies and cold milk--a winning combination!  Here are some students in Miss Weigard's Pre-K 3 class enjoying their snack.

The students in Miss Roach's kindergarten class are very proud of their reading skills.  They cannot wait until it is their turn to go to Mrs. Leahy's office to show her how well they read.

Each first Friday of the month, the students in our Pre-K 4 classes make Peanut Butter and Jelly and Cream Cheese and Jelly sandwiches to donate to Dutchess Outreach.  The children are learning to live their faith by following Jesus' example to help those in need.
