The members of our Student Government meet every two weeks.  They are currently working on their next community service project, which will be making Easter crosses for the homebound members of our parish as well as for the residents of the Avalon Assisted Living and Wellness Center in Wappingers.

The hockey sticks have been stored for the season and the next intramural sport has begun.  Attempting to eliminate opposing players while trying not to be eliminated oneself--such is the delicate art of dodgeball. Coach Reyman explains the rules, and the competition begins!

Today was the 100th day of school.  Mrs. Parajon and Miss Roach put a numbered sticker on each student who entered the building. Who was going to be lucky number 100?
And here is the lucky number 100!   The day was celebrated with 100 Day crowns, 100 Day eyeglasses, 100 Day cookies, and  even 100 Day chocolate lollipops.  There were 100 day projects (try getting 100 pieces of popcorn to stick to construction paper!).  Pre-K 3 counted Cheerios to 100, though many were sampled during the count.   And since today was also the day before Lent, there was a celebration of Mardi Gras.

Stability, structural integrity, and flying buttresses--these are just a few of the architectural terms the members of the Lego Club are learning as they solve construction problems with Lego bricks.  Today's dilemma was to create a structure with a base and with a curved opening through which a hand would fit.  The structure also had to stand without falling over.   Scroll down to see one of the solutions.

The students in Mrs. Maggiacomo's Pre-K 4 class are learning about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.  They created some interesting portraits of the presidents.

The 3rd grade students are running a drive for the animals at the Dutchess County SPCA.  Through February 16th, they are collecting urgently needed items from the SPCA's wish list, including canned cat and dog food, clean towels and blankets, paper towels, kitty litter, and laundry detergent.  The students are also holding a raffle and a bake sale to raise funds for the shelter.  In addition, they are selling paper hearts, and they hope to sell enough to display them the length of  the downstairs hallway.  Following prayers in the morning, several of the third graders speak to all the students via the webcam to advertise the drive.  There are also colorful posters on display throughout the school.  Some are posted below:
