Our favorite day in Pre-K this week was most definately Friday, our Party day!  What a fun day.  My kiddos really loved having their parents in our class and so did I.  It was a delightful time of simple fun.  I know my parents worked so hard to prepare a fantastic party.  And those Homeroom Moms just outdid themselves!!!  I have never had a party where I wasn't "in charge" and it was fun to get to enjoy.  I wasn't as exhausted as I usually am at the end of party day!!!

I am so excited for next week.  We have the book fair at Grove Valley and we get to learn about landforms!  Our week will be very busy and full of excitement, and we only have 4 DAYS.....OOPS....I just realized I planned for FIVE!!!!  Oh, Man...Back to the drawing board.  I don't want to cut anything!    Guess I better stop blogging and get back to work!

Both of my classes had an opportunity this week to attend a big event in the gym with the whole school.  I was so proud of my classes!  They were delightful listeners.  The two events were very different, but both classes conducted themselves with the utmost skill in their assembly.  You as parents would have been delighted with your children.

In class this week I have done a lot of assessment of the Pre-K skills in order to prepare for our upcoming conferences.  I was so proud of my students and their amazing skills.  It will be a joy to speak to parents about their children!  I sent home my first homework assignment for Pre-K this weekend (leaf collecting).  I guess I will see how many leaves I get!    It was good to be in Pre-K this week.

It was my very first Grove Valley Walk-A-Thon and auction this week and NOW I UNDERSTAND!!!  Our PTO and homeroom moms have simply out-done themselves!  It was just beautiful to watch the whole process flow and I had to brag on them a bit.  Our moms were fantastic and I am sure our baskets raised a ton of money for our school!

That being said, I think my favorite moment of this past week had to be walk-a-thon with my kiddos.  I love just hanging out with them and we did a little dancing (although I'm not as good as some of them!!).  I thought they were hysterical.

What a delightful and fun week in our class!  I seriously underestimated the power of my Pre-K friends.....We learned about quadrilaterals.  Now for those of us who have been out of Geometry for awhile a Quadrilateral is quite simply a four sided shape.  We sorted and graphed these quadrilaterals and quite frankly, they knocked my socks off!!!  By the end of the week they were over at the Math center (a.k.a. yellow table) building their own quadrilaterals!  I never would have dreamed they would grab hold of that word so willingly!  Great Job!

In addition, I was teaching something and one of my young gentlemen said "Mrs. Haas, You are a Science teacher!".  He said it like it was so exciting and he was so amazed at my skill.  This is just one more reason why I love my job!  Teaching Math (Quadrilaterals) and Science to four year olds is a great thing to do don't you think?  I fully believe the cure for cancer is in the mind of one my students just waiting to escape.
