Some of you were curious about why Iceland has so much geothermal energy available.  Here's a map and a link to a short article on the geology of Iceland.  Does it remind you of another collection of islands?

    I liked how it was just liquid boiling rock exploding out of the volcano and i can't believe that the camera man got that close to the volcano

    @Fionna - good question - I think basically most living things close by would be killed by the heat or the poisonous fumes, but maybe the snow helps protect them!
    @ Doc Oc - I'm guessing that the gases inside a star are probably hotter than lava, but it is one of the hottest things on Earth!

    that video was crazy the lava didn't look like that much was coming out. Also it was strange how there was snow right next to cooled lava it almost didn't look right if you know what i mean because you can really see the black part form the snow.
