Geothermal Power near the Arctic!

In class, some of you predicted that a hot place would have more geothermal energy, but in fact even a cold place like Iceland can have geothermal energy, because it is energy deep below the surface of the planet. Here's a video about Iceland's geothermal energy and how the United Nations is bringing scientists from around the world to study and learn about their geothermal power.

Nuclear power gives us clean, relatively cheap power, but it also has the greatest potential for disaster. Here are some of the most famous nuclear power disasters. What do you think about using nuclear power?

The basics of nuclear fission

Nuclear fission happens when a high-speed particle hits an atom with lots of protons and neutrons, such as a molecule of uranium. The atom splits apart, releasing a burst of energy and sending out more high speed particles. Here are a couple videos to help illustrate the idea:
