    Heat energy in our homes usually starts as some other form of energy.  In my house, natural gas travels through a pipe to a boiler and burns, changing chemical energy into heat energy.  That heat energy heats water, which rises and travels through my radiators to all parts of the house.  Investigate what form of energy (chemical?  electrical?) is used to make heat in your house and how that happens.

    You've learned that water turns into a solid at 32 degrees F./0 degrees C., and it turns into a gas at 212 degrees F./100 degrees C.  Other types of matter have very different freezing or boiling temperatures.  Research one of the common materials below to find out its freezing and/or boiling point:
