Translucent materials are materials that let some light through but scatter the light rays so an image can't be seen.  Where can you find translucent materials in your house?  Is there a reason for using translucent material there?

Light is the fastest thing in the universe - in empty space, it can travel at speeds up to 186,000 miles per second!  However, objects in space are also very far apart, so light may take some time to travel from an object in space to Earth.  Investigate how long it takes light to travel from one of the following locations to Earth:
    our moon
    the sun
one of the other planets, such as Mars
another star, such as Proxima Centauri (which is the closest star to earth)
