Yesterday, students worked on identifying the point of view in a piece of fiction.  While there are several different types, we only worked on 1st and 3rd person.

Examples:

"I love school!" Jared shouted.  - this is 3rd person because the narrator is referring to Jared by name.

"I love school!" I shouted.- this si 1st person because the narrator is the character speaking.

Today, students have a substitute while I attend a school-wide workshop.  Students will be working on previously learned skills of cause/effect, synonyms, fact/fiction, and also practicing with point of view.
