I received one connections assignment already that is an "exceeds." Those that I've received that are an "approaches" don't have the sentence that explains what is interesting or important about the connection.

Today we continued reading Freak the Mighty. The students will turn in 2 of the summaries that they have already completed before they leave for Winter Break. I have checked off most of these summaries already but I haven't entered them in the grade book yet.
Homework: due Monday (A Day)/Tuesday (B Day): 2 paragraphs with 1 connection each (for a total of 2 connections). The connections can be either similarities or differences. They are to compare the American Civil Rights Movement with the Arab Spring (or another civil rights issue). The first document on my Documents page is a table that outlines key facts of thet two movements. There connection paragraphs should:
-Be 3 sentences long (at least)
-Identify a clear connection (either similarity or difference)
-Explain the connection
-Give a sentence answering the question, "Why does this connection matter?" of "What is important or interesting about this connection?"
