I want to commend our Varsity Boy's Soccer Team on a great season. I believe this team played the toughest schedule of any Cullman team. Four of our losses were against the four 6A Final Four teams (Spain Park, Prattville, Fairhope, and Oak Mountain). Three of our losses were against two of the four 5A final four teams (Brewer and John Carroll). One of our losses was against one of the 5A teams (Gulf Shores), that may still get in the Final Four. One of our losses was against Grissom, who was ranked #1 in 6A all season long. One of our shutout ties was against E. Limestone, who is in the 4A Final Four, and they will moving up to 5A next season. Two additional ties were against teams (Albertville and Arab), who were the top two teams in section 6.

On another note, we had some great wins against our Section 8 opponents. We had a big win against Athens at home and a penalty kick win at their place. Hartselle and Muscle Shoals did not score a goal on us this season, and Athens only scored once. We had a great come back in the section title match to put it in overtime, and this was without one of our team captains. We just needed at little luck in the end in this game, but did not get it.

In our twenty-four games, half of them were shutouts. We shutout the #2 ranked Decatur team in the first round of the playoffs, Vestavia Hills at their place, Austin at home, and a Bentonville, AR team that was the 2005 Arkansas State Champion at Orange Beach.

I think this group of seniors and their teammates have done extremely well and have kept the Cullman Bearcat soccer program going strong. Congratulations on a great season! I appreciate all your hard work and dedication this season. Sincerely, Coach Drake

Our team did well to get back to even by the end of the match after having several things go against us. We have learned a lot from this match and now have put it behind us. We are looking forward to playing Decatur in the 1st round of the play-offs.  I expect a great result for the Bearcats! Coach Drake

Wow! The JV Boys and Varsity Boys played 2 great games at Athens last night. The JV possessed well and controlled the match. The Varsity was involved in a very physical game, got taken to 2 OT and Kicks From the Mark, and won!

    Have a great spring break!

The JVB played a great match. The controlled the ball and had some excellent runs of possession. The GK made some great saves to keep the clean sheet. Job well done!

The VB game had some signifivant events happen in the game that continually sifted the momentum in the direction of Brewer the entire game. Cullman never gave up and played hard even when the game was at 0-4. Cullman scored a goal in the last minute to make it 1-4. Brewer played a very good and inspired match. Cullman did score three other goals in the game, but they were all pulled back.
Cullman still controls its own destiny for the playoffs. If Cullman wins out, then Cullman is number 1 seed. If not, then anything is possible. One thing is for sure, if Brewer wins its last match against Cullman, then Cullman cannot be the number 1 for the playoffs. Coach Drake

Hartselle played Cullman a very good match on Tuesday night. Cullman had trouble finding space on the small Hartselle field, but finally did with seventeen minutes left in the match.
Juan Moreno put in the first goal off a long throw by Jacob Brown. Will Drake picked a ball off the central defender a minute later and slotted it in for the second goal. Andrew Arbet hit a long shot off a free kick pass from Moreno a minute after the second goal. Cullman's defense played very solid in tough conditions and kept Cullman in the match. If Hartselle could have netted a goal before Cullman the outcome could have been very different. The back line of Barnes, Walling, Grant, and Brown played solid. GK's for the night, Zenke and Meherg,  kept the clean sheet in the absence of Hollingsworth.
In other results for the night, Brewer dropped their first section match to Athens on KFTM. Albertville also dropped to 1-3 in section play by losing to Ft. Payne on KFTM.

A well played match by both teams. John Carroll came out on top 3-2. Both teams had chances that did not get put away.

This was a hard fought match. Austin was a good side and played well. Our defense held up well under a lot of pressure. Hollingsworth made several spectaculare saves. We created some chances early but just missed. The wing play was good and kept Austin honest in defense. A great throw-in by Knappenberger. He made good on his minutes in the match. Job well done by the midfield and the entire team.
