    Hoggetowne Medieval Faire Field Trip

    January 30th

Theme: “The Adventures of King Arthur”

    Admission: $2 Student
    $4 Adult

You may dress up in costumes (Ms. Candice will be!)

There are many venders there with wax/metal roses, ocarinas, jewelry, clay
    horns/ears, etc.

We will only allow children with parents attending to purchase wood
weapons. Those weapons when purchased MUST remain with the adult.

There are also games and rides there which range in price. ($2-$4) They
will normally have ponies, camels, and elephants. There can also be barrel
rides and archery games you can participate in.

Once we receive the schedule of events for the day, we will plan out the
class schedule at the faire. There are jousting matches, human chess, and
many other events to see there.

Below is the official website for the event. Check it out!

Hope you've seen the announcement page!

This next Monday we are going to have each child bring in a white t-shirt to decorate for our Guitar Hero Tournament at the Chili Cook Off!

They just need a BLANK white t-shirt.  We will decorate them IN CLASS.

We will have them put the Play N Trade Logo on the Back of the shirt and then the Guitar Hero Advertisement on the front!  They seem super excited about it, and so are we!

Hey everyone!  I meant to make this posting yesterday, but class stuff kept me busy.

Soon we have our fantastic Chili Cook Off!  Guess what though... Our class is making extra chili!

This is our second fundraiser to try to fund out Animal Kingdom field trip!!

Some of the parents got together and though, "Hey!  Why don't we make chili for those who don't want to at the school and then charge them?"  GREAT IDEA!

So that's what we're doing.  BUT... Always a but...

We NEED YOU to help us out with cooking all of that extra chili.  Even Mrs. Bauman and myself will be helping out with the chili cooking and storage.

The deadline for taking orders for chili cooking will be Oct. 1st.  That way we have plenty of time to split up the work between all of us.

This is a great opportunity for us to bond as a classroom team!

We are finally a go for the Guitar Hero Tournament at the Chili Cook Off!

I'll be the main person handling the tournament.  Next week I'm hoping to put out a money box at Play N Trade so they can begin signing up people off campus for the event.

I'm going to limit their sign up at 50 people max.  Our school will then sign up the week before the tournament.

At the event itself, we will have late registration for an extra $5 per person, which we will most likely get a good chunk of money.

We will also have buybacks for losers in the first round:
    • Buybacks are when losing players in the 1st round may pay an additional fee to continue on with the tournament.  Those who pay this fee will play against one another. Those who win those matches will proceed to the 2nd round.
Play N Trade let me on to that little secret to getting some more money.

One of the biggest issues we are going to have is with the controllers.  We will have a very limited amount of controllers from Play N Trade... Possibly 2 at max.

We NEED 8 controllers to run this tournament smoothly.  This is another reason why we asked that each person entering the tournament bring their own controller.  If there is ANY way that you could provide us with an extra PS2 Guitar Hero Controller, it would be GREATLY Appreciated.

OK everyone!  Glad you're sitting down for this news!

    Good news first!
    • We have all of the information we will need for the Animal Kingdom Trip!
    • We have a few fundraisers planned to help pay for the price of the trip.
    • We DON'T have to pay for a security guard so long as every kids' room is adjoined to a chaperon's room.
    Now the yucky news...
    • The trip per child will cost $326.75
    • Parents, you will have the same price ($326.75) as your child in a 4 person room
    • If you wish for a separate 2 person bedroom, you will have to pay a total of $488.25
Now... Back to the good news!

    • You as parents can band together and come up with more fundraising ideas! Mrs. Bauman and myself at this time are only going to help with cooking the chili and the Guitar Hero Tournament.
    • We will have a payment plan set up for those who wish to pay this full price in installments.
I think that this is a great place to voice your comments and concerns.  I am hoping that with the given money per child for field trips and the money from our fundraising, we will be able to take off $100 per student.

    Happy Fall to everyone!

It's nice to finally have things cooling down some.  The kids are definitely enjoying the weather.  In PE yesterday all of the kids did a great job on the mile!  Every Monday they'll be running it to improve on their initial run.  The cooler weather is certainly going to be a great help with that!

The classroom building is finally decorated for the season!  We have some great plans for the Fall Festival!  We are hoping to at one point join together with the 3rd grade classroom for a fun party activity!  Mrs. Bauman, Mrs. Sieg, and myself all thought it would be a great way to reinforce our new Tribes system.

If anyone has ideas for this Fall please fell free to comment!  I appreciate all ideas and love feedback on my own.  As we get closer to the Fall Festival, I'll post what activities and food ideas we had here at school.

    Remember

Your child has to have his or her book read by this Monday the 22nd

Any comments?  Questions?  Just post and myself or someone else will help you out!

Ms. Candice caught wind of this new feature for our website and decided to add it!

Here I'll be updating you on things happening in class, upcoming events, and field trip news!

I know it can get confusing with where I have all of the information throughout the website.  Here I'll do separate blog entries for some of the information spread out through the website.

Hopefully I'll have some new photos soon!
    I'm working on it! =)
