As a part of week two homework, every student is to participate in a classroom blog about our summer reading, The Bluest Eye. This type of activity will become a habit in this class; so be prepared to engage in close literary analysis. Hopefully in doing this we will all gain a greater insight into the texts we study this year. For this first task, you are to all contribute to your own posting of approximately 450-500 words, and then respond to one other person's response in a approximately 250 words. You will be graded on your ability to think deeply and critically about the material studied as well as use parenthetical citations to support your assertions.
TASK: Select a literary device of merit that was used in The Bluest Eye and trace its use within the novel. Please do not repeat another students device; it must be new. Please preface your posting with the literary device you are using..
YOU MUST READ THE OTHER POSTS SO AS TO AVOID REPLICATION - NO MORE ON EYES, OR WHITENESS AS A STANDARD OF BEAUTY. YOU HAVE TO FIND OTHER MORE ORIGINAL IDEAS.
** Remember as this is an English class, I expect to see reference to the author's literary techniques, and effect of using such devices, and evidence from the text.
** Try to be respectful of other people's opinions. Remember you may indeed feel the need to pose questions of another person's assertions or ask for further qualification.
