    Dear Cheatham Hill Family,

On Wednesday, December 8, 2nd grade will be sponsoring a “Wacky Winter Wear Day” to raise money for Relay for Life (American Cancer Society)!  The cost will be $1.00 and students will be allowed to wear any type of wacky winter clothing. Holiday/ winter hats, scarves, boots, sweaters, socks, snow pants or jackets, etc are all encouraged.  Please do not send ski masks that cover faces.  Students will take their donation to the table in the lobby by the cafeteria as they arrive. We look forward to a wonderful, wacky day!  Thanks for your participation.

                                                                            Sincerely,

                                                                            Cheatham Hill 2nd Grade Team

Our goal this year was to work with you and together get your child to the highest level they can achieve.   Please remind your child that in school academics and behavior go hand and hand. We cannot learn unless there is appropriate behavior going on and students are engaged.  It is imperative your child is on task and focusing.  Your child needs to read at least 20 minutes at home every night.  I am also asking them to be making connections with their book.  PLEASE ask your child questions as they read every night, it helps with comprehension.  Please encourage your child every day to be the best that they can be so we can be as successful as possible.

Reading:  We are working on Non-Fiction Conventions & Inferencing, fact and Opinion, Point of View/Compare & Contrast/ & Cause and Effect. Reviewing Main Idea/Supporting Details, Sequencing/Literary Elements

    September 3, 2010

    Attention Students and Parents:

Effective September 7, 2010, students will not be permitted to return to classrooms after 2:45 to retrieve forgotten items  such as homework, lunch boxes, book bags, etc.  Teachers  my leave the campus at 2:45, therefore sending students to rooms without someone present is a concern for our staff and for the security of our students.  Please be advised that ASP workers and custodians will no longer be able to unlock classrooms for parents or students.  Until students become acclimated to this procedure we will provide daily reminders on the afternoon announcements.

Today was the last day to order t-shirts/water bottles.

I am going to try and update homework every night on the homework link.  This is a job in our classroom, and new to us.  Homework will still be written in agendas and parents still need to sign nightly.  Please have your child working on www.ixl.com as well when no homework is given.  Thanks so much for all of your support this year so far.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Mrs. Bone
