Why is civic responsibility important in a representative democracy?  What could happen if we did not follow through on our duties and responsibilities as citizens?

You've learned about some of the more famous explorers in our past.  Now thinking to the future, what areas will need to be explored and why?  Do you think there are more places on Earth that need to be explored?  What about Space? Is exploration important to humanity?

How do cultural and environmental interactions lead to change?
cultural: how we dress, eat, live, language, etc.
    environmental: climate, landforms, weather, etc.

Example: I moved to the United States to compete in track and field as training was difficult in Canada (cold weather forced us to practice in a gym indoors).

Example: People have moved to other countries, states, cities because of their religion, language spoken, etc.

Welcome to our classroom blog!  You comment on an entry, and I approve it through my email.  Now, getting back to my favorite memory... it would have to be snorkeling with sharks!  My husband and I went to the Bahamas and got to snorkel with Reef Sharks!  It was scary at first, but they're very beautiful to watch up close.  Please share your summer memories!

Now that the Olympics are underway, there are plenty of exciting events to watch!  Which has been your favorite one so far?  Mine will most likely be when my friend Melissa Hollingsworth competes in the Women's Skeleton on Thursday at 7!  Be sure to watch:)

I'm sure there are many great stories!  I went to Oklahoma, where it snowed 14 inches (unheard of in that part of the United States).  I got to visit with friends and family.  I had a great time!
