Congratulations, you are currently exhibiting our Target web page!  We started our Target day off with studying our Vocabulary Cartoons for our Jeopardy quiz show.  Afterward, two students presented their above and beyond presentations.  One of the students did their above and beyond on the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and brought in their puppy.  The other presentation was about the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Wall.  Then, our class continued with our vocabulary by taking the test.  Many people passed Mrs. Lyjak's expectations with a score of 90%-100%.  Later on, our class got together with their bridge building companies and worked on their bridges for a short time.  To top the day off, we went to Mrs. Lind's class to present our Weighty Words stories.  Now we are here in the trailer writing this blog for you.  That concludes our Target day.  If you wish to exit, press the big red 'X'.

Remember to bring in bridge postcards, several healthy snacks, make a wordle for Mrs. Lind's class, a signed target tally, and for those who forgot please bring in the continuation criteria form.

All aboard the Target Train!  Please keep all hands and feet in the vehicle at all times.  We started our trip off by being hired for our jobs in our Bridge Companies.  In all, there were three companies.  The three companies names were Bridge Quest, GIBB Inc., and Golden Suspension.  The architects began designing the bridges and the carpenter consulted with him.  Everyone else was designing the company logo.  Companies bought planning paper, land, and some building materials.   We hope to be able to start actually building our bridges next week.  Next, we walked over to Mrs. Lind's trailer and learned three new Weighty Words.  We have to extend one of the three stories by the next time we meet with Mrs. Lind in two weeks.  The three words were coruscate, dogmatic, and expedient.  Coruscate means to glitter, gleam, sparkle, flash or shine.  Dogmatic means stubborn and set in your ways.  Expedient means to take the easy way out.  We have reached our destination.  Grab your Target luggage and set off for the East Side Cafe.

Remember to write your story for your Weighty Word.  Also, bring your Target binder, signed Target Tally, water bottle and a healthy snack.

While waiting for the drawbridge to lift, let us tell you about our Target Day.  When came into the room this morning, we greeted Mrs. Lyjak and did Vocabulary Cartoons again.  It took us a while to accrue our vocabulary cartoon cards over the weeks.  After that we discussed our answers to Building Big Bridges.  The acme of our day was learning about the Toothpick Bridge Challenge.  Everyone applied for a job with a resume and a reference letter.  Our jobs to choose from were CEO (the boss), transportation chief, accountant, carpenter and architect.  Each of us had to write a reference letter about why our friend was the best person for the job they applied for.  Then we read a magazine called Kids Discover Bridges.  We will be completing an scavenger hunt.  Next we worked on Hands On Equations.  And now we are writing this blog to top it all off.  Oh look, the drawbridge is at its acme and we can sail away to the next Target day.

Remember to bring your signed Target Tally, binder, a water bottle and healthy snack.  Bring more bridge postcards and caps from plastic drink bottles.

Come aboard the Target Bridge.  As we stepped onto the bridge we worked on Vocabulary Cartoons.  Sometimes vocabulary cartoons are abstract but today they were rather easy.  You can find our vocabulary words in the blog.  We continued our journey learning about bridges online in Building Big: Bridges.  We learned many facts about different types of bridges such as a beam bridge can have a span of 250 ft at most and the wider the beam bridge is the weaker it is.  A suspension bridge can span from 2,000 to 7,000 ft.  As we continued our journey across the bridge, we figured out which shape of pier was the strongest among a cylinder, a triangle and a square.  The results we found were that the cylinder was the strongest.  Also, we are accountable for finishing our Building Big: Bridges by next week.  We finally reached the end of the bridge by solving Hands On Equations.  We have reached the end of our Target bridge for today.

Remember to bring bridge postcards, your signed Target Tally, your binder, snack and water bottle.

Once again you enter our Target world.  Today we started in an SAT Vocabulary Cartoon book.  Can you find our words in this blog?  We learned about what to do during a code red.  Now that we know about code red we will not be abashed by it in the future.  We were overwhelmed with Above and Beyond projects.  We wish they would abate.  Next nine weeks many people can improve their Above and Beyond projects by abating the number of words in their power points.  Hopefully, next nine weeks people will do their projects sooner and not at the last minute.  After our Above and Beyond projects, we reflected on our team work skills.  We learned what we need to improve on when working with each other.  Please click the back button to exit our Target World.

Remember to bring a snack, signed Target Tally, a water bottle, and BRING POSTCARDS OF BRIDGES.

Welcome to our Target world.  Today we started off by playing our last set of vocabulary games.  Most of them were good, but all of them could use some improvement.  When we came back from Specials, several presented their Above and Beyond projects.  They were all great topics but some of the power points had too many words.  We learned about Washington, D.C., the Bermuda Triangle, how to make cookies, watermelons, Fort Wagner, President William Howard Taft, why triangles are stronger than squares, and the Wright Brothers.  Next week is the last week to present Above and Beyond projects for this nine weeks.  We evaluated ourselves on team work and wrote a paragraph about how we worked together in teams.  Then we evaluated our buddies in team work and we will finish it next week.  Then we went over to Mrs. Lind's trailer to learn new words.  We did Weighty Words, which are mnemonic stories that help us learn the definition of new words.  We learned the definition of abasement which means to lower in rank or ability.  From there we have come to write this blog for our parents.  Thank you!  Please exit our Target World to your left.

Remember to bring back your signed Target Tally and next week is the last week for Above and Beyond projects.  Be sure to bring several healthy snacks and your water bottle.  Bring all your supplies including Target binder.  Bring in Bridge post cards.  Remember what abasement means.

When our class came in this morning, we greeted Mrs. Lyjak like we do every Target day.  Then we played our Target vocabulary games that we created.  We played the games in groups and after we played the game each group evaluated the game.  That took up most of our time.  Then we watched a bridge video.  We learned that John Roebling created new ways to build cable-stayed bridges.  Our class also learned about how people maintain bridges.  One person presented their Above and Beyond project.  Remember you only have two more weeks to present Above and Beyond projects for this nine weeks.

Some people need to turn in their games next week.  Finish up your Above and Beyond presentations and remember to tell Mrs. Lyjak in the morning that you have an Above and Beyond presentation and how long it will take.  Remember to bring your signed Target Tally and binder.  Bring a filled water bottle and a snack.

Today we came to Target after our long day of testing, so it was a short Target day.  We worked on our Vocabulary games.  Be sure to finish your Vocabulary game by next week.  One of our classmates presented an Above and Beyond project about bridges.  We have four more weeks to present two Above and Beyond projects.  Our fourth and fifth grade Target students are competing in a postcard contest against another school.  So, we are trying to find postcards with bridges on them to bring to Target.  We can have someone send it to us or we can buy them.

Remember to bring your Vocabulary game.  Don't forget your signed Target Tally and your binder.  If you have an Above and Beyond don't forget it and check your thumb drive to make sure it is there.  Remember a nutritious snack and a water bottle.

Today was the third day of Target.  Today for Vocabulary Cartoons we learned twenty new words by writing the words and definitions on a folded paper.  For homework, we need to make a game that helps you learn the definitions of the twenty words.  This game is due in two weeks.  We will have a little bit of time in class next week to work on our games.  We learned about tension and compression using a sponge, a rubber band, a chair and ourselves.  The directions were on one sheet and we wrote our notes to study about tension and compression which will be on our post test.  We matched bridge words to their definitions.  Many of us got several words wrong and several words correct.  After that we did Hands On Equations.  We are learning a new way to do our checks.  Two of our students presented Above and Beyond projects about Colonial Williamsburg and the Atlanta Braves.  That was our special day at Target.

Remember to bring your Target binder, signed Target Tally, several healthy snacks and a water bottle.  Also, bring the materials to create your game.
