We had a great time on our field trip to Moss Greenhouse yesterday!  The trip was a perfect connection to our plant unit.  We were able to see seeds being planted and watered by machines.  It was amazing to see how many plants and flowers are being grown in the greenhouses.  The students were very well behaved and everyone enjoyed the trip.  Thanks to Giovanni's mom and Chloe's mom for helping chaperone the trip!

We have a two field trips coming up!  First, our trip to see the JIVE perform at Twin Falls High School is on this Friday, April 19th.  Then, we will be going to Moss Greenhouse on Monday, April 29th.  We will need a permission slip for both of the trips.  Please send them back to school as soon as possible.

We will be taking a few parent chaperones on the Moss trip.  Younger siblings are not allowed on our trip, so you will need to make arrangements for a babysitter if necessary.

We are going to have a great time!  Let me know if you have any questions!

It is that time again! Parent/teacher conferences will be held the week after Spring Break.  If you have not returned your conference slip, please return it to me as soon as possible!   I am happy to reschedule your conference if needed.

Please be thinking of any questions you might have for me.  We will be discussing your child's progress so far this year. We will also be looking at the last nine weeks and discussing your child's learning goals for the last quarter of the school year.  We will also be discussing ideas for helping your child over the summer.

I am looking forward to meeting with all of you!

We had a fun time celebrating Dr.Seuss' birthday on Friday!  We read many of his books and wrote about Thing 1 and Thing 2, from the Cat in the Hat.  We enjoyed listening to books read by guest readers.  We also made cute Cat in the Hat hats! Be sure to check out the pictures posted on the website!  We ended the day celebrating with red and white cupcakes.  It was a great day!

Since the students enjoyed the book so much, we are going to continue reading Dr. Seuss books this week.  If you have any fun Dr.Seuss books at home, be sure to send them in to our room! We will read them all!

We are learning about the weather in reading and in science.  Watch for stories about weather coming home. Ms. Bridges is doing some really fun experiments with the students. Be sure to ask your child about what they are learning about clouds and the weather!

We had a great time on the 100th day of school!  We counted by 5s and 10s all the way to 100! We also explored different combinations of numbers that pair up to make 10.  We discussed the importance of zero as we learned about place value with numbers.  We explored our math 100 collections by predicting the longest, biggest, smallest and heaviest collections.  Then we sorted our collections into groups of 10 and measured them.  We finished the day with a 100 treat made out of a cookie and two donuts.  We had a great day! Thanks for your help with the 100 collections!  Check out the pictures that I posted from our special day!
